It's a slow, beautiful Tuesday morning today. I'm currently eating my usual breakfast of oatmeal (trying to reach the same level of goddessness as Bleubird's oatmeal creations) and watching my favorite people on YouTube, Achievement Hunter. PS. Gavin Free is my favorite! I initially wanted to write this post yesterday as a wrap-up for what a crazy month April was, but I didn't have time. But nonetheless, today works as well. It's a good reminder to be flexible with my schedule and time, which is something I've learned to do.
The month of April has taught me SO MUCH. I started my official graduate classes - as in the course I'm in now is the introduction into my career path - I got a new client as an intern, and I started working out again. I learned to balance everything from reading and studying, making time to workout at least 30 minutes every day, keeping up with my internship responsibilities, and also maintaining my role as a behavior specialist. I learned to be flexible in managing what things I can do one day and what can I fit on my to-do list another day. A helpful tool I've been using is Todoist. It's a great app where you can create multiple to-do lists and receive karma points for every item you get done. I highly recommend!
The two things I'm still working on is making time to keep in touch with my lovelies and being mindful of what my body and mind need for balance.
I haven't seen my friends for several weeks now. I guess you can say we only "see" each other through social media, but that's totally different than hanging out in person. I haven't hung out with my best mate in . . . gosh, I can't even remember the last time we hung out and went on an adventure. We do text each other from time to time, but it isn't enough. At least, not for me. However, I have seen my family a lot more now. My parents come to visit often because Fremont has better food. Lol. And it also helps that my sister lives 5 minutes down the street from me. I get to see my brother at least one day a week during my lunch break on Tuesday's (I'll be seeing him later today!). I'm glad I have my family to support me. *insert crying face and heart emoji
As for my body and mind, I just haven't been the best at self-care. I'm trying to eat better and do some form of exercise - my sweet boy helps me to stay accountable. And I did get a much-needed haircut at the beginning of April. Short hair for those warm summer nights that are coming. Other than that, I don't go out as much (God, I miss the beach!) because I'm trying to be better at being frugal and paying off my bills and rent first and staying away from shopping. Damn, it is not easy. But, I know all this hard work will pay off soon.
For the month of May, I hope to make more time for friends and relax a bit more. That being said, I am going on a trip up to Seattle and Vancouver with the boy and gahh I'm so excited! I'll definitely be bringing my camera to document everything. Look forward to an adventure post of my trip in June!
If you're reading this, you're a lovely person. Thanks for sticking around and reading about my mundane life. I don't blog for the sponsors (no lie though, that'd be nice lol) because, well, I don't have any. I continue to blog to share and talk about things that I need help getting off my chest. I hope my words bring you comfort in knowing that I, too, I'm trying to figure out my life and balance a busy schedule.
Alright, back to studying!
