It was about a year ago when my beautiful friend, Melissa of Mosa's Munchies, hosted the first Bake and Baked aka BnB. She is a connoisseur of all things that are sweet and delicious in the kitchen. And after bombarding her with how to properly bake anything, she decided to teach a class on the subject. Last year, she taught us how to bake a simple apple pie from scratch. I wrote about it on my old blog - which no longer exists. Sorry! Anyways, last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Annual BnB for our Galentine's Day hang. *Firework poppers explode with confetti. Yes, yes I know Galentine's Day is officially on February 13th, but it's hard these days to get us ladies together with our busy schedules. I say, better to celebrate than not. Right? Right.
Her home was decorated with lovely hangings and trappings of rose gold pink with cute girly glasses waiting to be filled with champagne and berries. There was a table that provided a selection of yummy foods and snacks that we devoured quite quickly. And there was a separate table where she would be teaching us how to bake this year's dessert: Peach Blueberry Cobbler. Y-U-M!
After getting nice and bubbly off the champagne and "pineapple" - and munching on bread and salad to soak up all the alcohol - we finally started to bake! The whole process was much faster than the last class she taught. You just mix the peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon, add the blueberries aka "bloobs" as I like to call them, pour the contents in your pie dish, mix flour, more sugar, and water in another bowl, knead it with your fingers and plop it on top of the peaches and blueberries, and place in the oven and wait! Okay, the steps were much more precise than that but you get the idea.
While the pies baked, we took the basic silly, candid, and "plandid" photos of all us gals together. Because y'know, do it for the gram. OH! But the best part was that they surprised me with the most adorable pink champagne frosted cake and singing Happy Birthday as a late-birthday celebration since they couldn't make it to my bonfire hang in January. I was truly surprised and my heart was so full and happy! I took a very funny Boomerang of me stabbing my cake with a knife. It looked pretty cool too. I almost forgot the next best part! Two of my lady friends surprised the rest of us with goodie bags filled with chocolate and a little pot with seeds for us to grow a flower. How adorable! I don't think I've ever felt so much sweetness from a group of friends before. *Cue that warm fuzzy feeling.
My friends' house slowly began to fill with the delicious smell of peaches and blueberries mixed with cinnamon. Mmm! While the pies cooled down, we delighted in dipping juicy strawberries and giant marshmallows into chocolate, only to further die from a sugar rush by adding sprinkles. I don't think I've ever consumed so much sugar at one time! I was definitely feeling the headrush on my drive back home.
It was hard for me to say goodbye to my friends because it's hard for us to plan hangouts together since I live far now. But, Melissa is planning a summer BnB and I'm trying to schedule a fun girl's night out later this month. I am very excited for what's to come! Also, I'm always trying to get all my different group of friends to hang out and meet because it's no fun when there's just so many cliques, y'know? It's not easy to do, but "Ohhh, I'm trying!" - said using a Mr. Meeseeks voice. Lol.
Now that I'm finding (and making) time to blog, I have some fun filled posts coming up! My road trip to Disneyland with my best mate, my anniversary camping trip with my sweet boy, and a discussion about friendship and intimacy.
Stay tuned lovelies!
