As I've mentioned previously, I was in Tahoe a few weekends ago for my sister and her fiancé's combined bachelor/bachelorette weekend. The months and weeks leading up to the trip, I had been guilty of complaining about how expensive the weekend was going to be and stressing out if I'll have enough funds to enjoy my time. Shame on me, I know. But, I am happy to report that I did save enough cash (phew!) and had an amazing time!
I arrived late the second night and everyone was already drunk off King's Cup and shots of whiskey. We were greeted at the door by my sister and her fiancé, Ricky, with shots of tequila. My sister said, "You cannot enter the house until you've taken a shot. Sorry!" with a glowing face from drinking. Mind you, I'm not keen on the clear devil that is tequila, but I'm no party pooper. (PS. That shot got me gooood as I hadn't eaten since before the 4 hour drive up). We were the last group of people to arrive, so we had to catch up to everyone else. Lol. It was a hilarious round of double King's Cup that ended with me in the hot tub fighting off moths and mosquitos.
The next morning, there were plans to go hiking, but everyone was hungover from raging so hard the night before. A few folks and I managed to catch a quick hike down the road to this sweet bridge that overlooked a creek. My boo even found a great walking stick a.k.a. "Gandalf's staff" that is now a new decor in my bedroom.
After a quick breakfast, we all put on our swim wear to head down to Lake Tahoe for some awesome water fun! The blue waters were perfection with the surrounding green trees. But the sand was lava, like actual lava as you tried walking across it - burnt the soles of my feet pretty bad. I also actually got in the water and got wet! Let me explain. Normally, I stay cool and not get wet because I don't like getting my hair wet and tangled, but after I fell off the paddle board that was it. Oh yeah! I also learned how to paddle board for the first time EVER and I kayaked too! Ahh, I miss it!
Two hours in the sun was enough for us before getting sunburned. Wait, do Asian's sunburn? Anyways, we headed back to our cabin to get dolled up for the happy hour cruise back down at the lake. There was a cute dock (photo above) next to where we were boarding the boat. I imagined perfectly captured wedding photos there. On the small boat, a few of us got dizzy, but lucky me had Dramamine to share, as I get invertigo while in the mountains. It was nice to get a tour of Lake Tahoe across the waters. The views reminded me of Oregon. Beautiful.
I didn't really take many photos that weekend, which is completely unlike me. But, I was shy around people I don't know well and I was uncomfortably hot from the humid weather. Note: I can't function in the heat. But I managed to get some cute photos of myself with the main girls (above). It was also quite lovely meeting and hearing funny stories from my sister's and her fiance's friends about how they met and the sweet memories they have together. The love and support everyone has for my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law was magical.
After the tour, we stayed in and cooked an amazing dinner of spaghetti and grilled chicken wings. There was even a cook-off of who had the best chicken wings. More shots and bottles of beers were consumed and soon everyone was napping from a long day under the sun by the water. We ended the last night with guys playing a drinking card game downstairs, while the ladies played a naughty game of "Never Have I Ever" upstairs. Let's just say, majority of us are freaks. Lol.
After taking the notorious group photos outside the next morning before heading out, Arny and I planned a sweet silly string surprise on Melanie and Ricky. It was a great way to end the trip. In about a month, we'll all see each other again at the wedding shower, which has been the most exhausting thing to plan. Seriously, wedding stuff is no joke.
It feels like I've been traveling every weekend this summer. But I'm not complaining. It's been a wonderful summer of adventures! I'll be traveling this weekend too, so I'll be sure to blog about my exploration soon!
Until next time babes xx
